After a long pause in production due to the Covid-19 pandemic, filming on the cobbles of Coronation Street recommenced last summer and the Medical Hire were delighted to be back in the Corrie studios too.
One of the first medical scenes to hit the screens was part of the long running storyline with character Yasmeen Nazir.
After suffering months of torment and emotional abuse from her husband Geoff Metcalf, an impulsive act of self-defence saw Yasmeen sent to prison for attempted murder. But the stress of the impending trial was all too much for her and she collapsed with a suspected heart attack just hours before she was due in court.
Yasmeen was rushed to hospital for emergency treatment, and after regaining consciousness, the doctors confirmed that she’d make a full recovery after a period of rest and recuperation.
Helping to dress the hospital set in readiness for filming, the Medical Hire team supplied a range of medical equipment and accessories. A wall panel and patient call button completed the setup around the hospital bed, whilst a vital signs monitor, ECG electrode pads and associated cabling were provided to portray ongoing patient monitoring.
All equipment and props were delivered and set up in line with the new Covid-secure procedures. All equipment and props were thoroughly cleaned prior to delivery and after setup, and the Medical Hire team observed social distancing and wore the required PPE at all times.
