Following a series of special episodes which focused on the stories of a number of the characters, the week ended with a huge horror crash which left Rhona, Aaron and James fighting for their lives. Many of the villagers also sustained injuries which required a range of treatments on a busy A&E ward.

Helping to make the storyline as realistic as possible, Medical Hire were heavily involved in the filming of the A&E scenes. As well as providing A&E equipment including monitors and obs machines which accurately simulated the emergency scenes, the Medical Hire team also provided specialist medical advice for the duration of filming.

In Friday’s episode, viewers saw character James dramatically going into cardiac arrest before sadly losing his battle for life. Ensuring the scene was absolutely authentic, Medical Hire’s own advisor stepped is an extra to perform the CPR actions that would be carried in a real-life situation.

Advisors were also on-set providing advice for the cast members playing A&E doctors and nurses treating characters with less serious cuts and bruises.

Medical Hire have supported the team at Emmerdale with specialist medical equipment for a wide range of storylines and were thrilled to be involved in these latest dramatic scenes.
