Medical Hire have been busy down on the set of Emmerdale again recently, this time with a storyline involving heart failure.

Last month, Sarah, the daughter of Debbie Dingle and Andy Sugden, suddenly collapsed in the Woolpack after being questioned by the police for being involved in a joyriding incident. Initially after her collapse, it was thought that her cancer had returned, but the doctors later diagnosed a heart condition.

Things then took a turn for the worse recently after Sarah lied to the doctors saying that she was well enough to go to the school dance. But whilst at the dance, she struggled to catch her breath and later collapsed once again.

Back in hospital, doctors revealed that Sarah was actually suffering from heart failure and needed an urgent heart transplant to save her life.

Continuing their successful working relationship, Medical Hire were asked to advise and supply medical props for this emotional storyline. The team consulted with experts at Newcastle Hospital on heart conditions and heart transplants, to ensure the Emmerdale scriptwriters had the very latest insight and information available to them. Medical Hire also provided paediatric cardiac advisors to support the cast and crew during filming.

The range of medical props and hospital equipment supplied by Medical Hire included a hospital bed, a vital signs patient monitor, drips and syringe drivers, and a range of accessories and consumables.

The storyline continues on Emmerdale on ITV as Sarah remains in hospital, hoping that a heart donor can be found quickly.
