This latest storyline, which began last Friday evening, involves character Megan Macey’s new baby, Eliza. Following a traumatic birth which began with Megan going into labour in the woods, the doctors fear that baby Eliza may be left brain-damaged due to oxygen deprivation during birth.
Eliza is immediately transferred to the infant high dependency unit where her temperature is maintained on a cooling blanket and her brain activity is continuously monitored on a CFAM machine – a specialist monitor designed to look for early signs of cerebral palsy.
Not only did Medical Hire supply all of the equipment for this emotional storyline but the team also helped research infant brain injury cases and provided professional advice from their team of Occupational Therapists and Physiotherapists.
The storyline continues on ITV this week.
