The team from Medical Hire were honoured to have been involved in the emotional scenes that took place on the Cobbles of Coronation Street recently as viewers said farewell to loveable character Sinead.

The long-running storyline began a year ago when Sinead was tragically diagnosed with cervical cancer. But as she was in the early stages of pregnancy with baby Bertie, she refused chemotherapy treatment in favour of holistic alternatives.

Immediately after baby Bertie was born, Sinead underwent rigorous chemotherapy treatment, which was initially a success. However, some months later during a regular check-up, it was discovered that Sinead’s cancer had returned and spread with a vengeance. She was sadly given only a few weeks to live.

Medical Hire were privileged to have been involved in the storyline from the outset, initially providing medical props and equipment to create the chemotherapy room and dress the hospital set. The team supplied a specialist chemotherapy chair, an infusomat drip and drip stand, a cannula, fluid bags, a patient monitor, hospital furniture and a range of consumables.

More recently, for filming of Sinead’s last few weeks, Medical Hire were honoured to be asked to be involved once again. The team provided experienced palliative care nurses who gave sensitive advice on Sinead’s final moments as she peacefully passed away.
