Medical Hire had a busy time on the cobbles of Coronation Street this summer, supporting the cast and crew with the filming of the popular British soap’s latest dramatic storylines.

Recent gripping episodes saw David Platt attempt to take revenge on wife Kylie’s killer as the long-awaited murder trial took place. But, with his plans almost thwarted by his family who tried to keep him prisoner in the basement of the Bistro, David’s revenge plans took a turn for the worse.

After escaping from the Bistro and taking his petrol-laden car from the garage, David crashes his car whilst trying to avoid hitting his daughter Lily who had run into the road. The rescue attempts end in disaster as character Anna Windass was hit by a flying petrol can which left her with third degree burns to her legs.

Meanwhile, long-running character Ken Barlow suffers a stroke following an argument with his son Peter and is rushed to hospital for immediate care.

These two storylines which were filmed and shown in parallel, required specialist medical equipment and advice to ensure their authenticity. Medical hire supplied Intensive Care Unit equipment for Anna’s storyline as well as specialist burns and ICU advice from Medical Hire’s team of professional advisors.

For Ken’s storyline, Medical Hire provided a range of hospital furniture including beds, overbed tables and stainless steel trollies to store accessories and consumables.

Filming these two storylines alongside another major storyline on fellow ITV soap, Emmerdale, required a great deal of equipment which Medical Hire are proud to stock. The team offers a wide range of medical props from hospital furniture to operating theatre equipment, ICU units to labour wards, and much more. In addition, a dedicated team of professional medical advisors are also available to offer practical advice and support during filming.
